My friend not only has their beliefs (that part I can accept), but they have also made several bold claims to me (which I cannot acccept without examining the evidence, and part of examining the evidence will involve asking questions). Make sense?

(btw tec, I'm not in. My JW friend wants me to examine things (esp. with my own beliefs) and to study with someone locally. I also have a Mormon friend who claims they are the True Church. Needless to say, my hands are full with examining my current beliefs, Mormonism, and WTBTS. Although I believe examining one's own beliefs is a continual and important process, I also realize that even if I find one of my current beliefs to be in err, it does not prove someone else's belief is true. In the end, I only want to hold on to what stands the tests. I'm open to being proven wrong about anything...I just wish it was easier to get straight-forward answers from people so this process of examining could be quicker.)
kjw53, I know it's easy to read the wrong tone into things that are typed, and I certainly don't want to offend. So to be clear, did you find my question somehow offensive (or is that just me reading the wrong tone into your 1st response)?

I observe how you were able to say who was right without actually knowing the content. Apart from your false assumptions regarding me (i.e. -don't make this something it isn't), thank you for your straight-forward answer.
I do have a specific question for you kjw53. If I read a passage of scripture and then conclude about it the same as the WT concludes, who then is correct?

Hmmm, I don't mean it to be a trick question though. I thought I could get a straight-forward and honest answer from them. It was via email, and I don't think there was any condescending tone. The whole email was this:
I want you to help me understand your view about something.
If I read a passage of scripture and conclude about it something that opposes the WT's view of the same passage, in your mind who has the truth about that passage (i.e. who is correct)?

Thanks OnTheWayOut. Notice though, the question I asked this person does not require them to give me their opinion aout the passage of scripture (...that opposes the WT's view of the same passage...).
So, with that in mind, do you think this is a difficult question for them to answer?
(I'm not trying to be difficult here, I just am surprised that it remains unanswered after 2 weeks.)

I thought this would have been an easy question for my friend to answer, but for whatever reason, two weeks have passed and it still remains unanswered (not even acknowledged).
Can I get some feedback from some of you (realizing many of you are xJW) as to whether or not this would be an easy question to answer as a JW?
I really don't mean it to be a deep question; take it for what it is asking.

i have found some powerful reinforcements when people have stated their " epiphany moment "... please share some.. my turning pointing began when i was badly hurt by a person i had always viewed as a literal brother.

love was conditional.... if it was the case with him , then how about those i had less affection for and trust in ?.

though i no longer believe the fds is indeed appointed by god, i guess because of what has been taught to me all these years through the wtbts, i still make an effort to try and look at both sides.
and then i come across this number below, which is how i arrived at my title for this thread.
